We, in our capacity as Representatives of the Universities that comprise the INTERNATIONAL CONFEDERATION OF UNIVERSITIES, aware of our historical and social responsibility in the education of our Members and of the Organization in general, and inspired by the universal values ​​of Higher Education, Scientific Research and International Cooperation… Declare our firm commitment to join efforts to promote equitable access and academic excellence in all areas of fostering innovation, interdisciplinary research, and the transfer of knowledge that serves human and sustainable development, thus defending the values ​​of freedom of thought, cultural diversity, and respect for the fundamental rights of human life, thereby promoting the comprehensive education of citizens with a high sense of critical responsibility, and committed to the cognitive and intellectual development of peoples.

Mission

The INTERNATIONAL CONFEDERATION OF UNIVERSITIES has as its main mission the strengthening of inter-institutional cooperation through the promotion of joint programs in research, teaching, student outreach, scientific excellence, and academic, cultural, and technological exchange among institutions from different countries; the creation of common standards of quality and international accreditation; the enrichment of global science and technology, focused on sustainable development, driving progress and global and social integration; promoting scientific research and humanistic studies; supporting projects that respond to global challenges in education, science, technology, and society; and the training of professionals and citizens with a critical vision, ethics, and social commitment, who are capable of leading positive transformations in their communities and throughout the world, through its members.

CONFEDERATION ACCREDITATION POLICIES

To promote self-evaluation, external evaluation, accreditation, and reaccreditation processes within a holistic framework at the Latin American and Ibero-American levels. The Confederation guarantees follow-up processes for the continuous improvement plans of accredited and reaccredited undergraduate and graduate programs.

Our Confederation will ensure a balance between state autonomy and common interests, which is key to cooperation in higher education among our affiliated members, both nationally and internationally.
